Lost Books of the Bible

I just want to note that Joshua 10:13 makes the first reference to the Book of Jashar, one of the lost books of the Bible. In hebrew it means the Book of the Upright.

  1. Interesting. Here's a link to read it:

  2. Apparently there are at least 20 Books mentioned in the Bible that are not found there. The Douay Bible of the Catholic church contains 73 Books, where in the Protestant church, only 66 Books were approved by the Synod of Dordrecht in 1618 which is now the King James Bible

  3. Well at some point around 300 AD a bunch of dudes held a council to decide which books to officially endorse as "the" authoritative Word of God. They included 66 books and letters; not sure how many items were considered but not included. I'm guessing there could be a lot.

  4. There are a lot and they are fascinating! I fixated on them and wanted to read them all. Then someone pulled me in and showed me how the 'Council of Nicea' choose the books of the Bible. I then decided to focus first on the Bible, get through it, and then explore the other books and other religions. I think that is what you are doing as well...
